Privacy policy

Last updated 31 October 2026

This policy explains how Fair Terms ("we") handles personal information. We handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We do not ask for sensitive information. Please do not send contracts or other confidential documents with a demo request.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. The sign-in area at review.fairterms.com.au is open only to authorised users and uses cookies to keep them securely signed in.

Why we use it

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, arrange demos, provide and secure Fair Terms, improve it, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information. We will only send you marketing if you have asked for it or the law allows it, and you can opt out at any time.

Contracts reviewed in Fair Terms

Fair Terms keeps contracts, precedents and playbooks on the user's own computer. To review a contract, its text is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI service for processing. When a user works remotely, what appears on screen passes through Cloudflare's network in transit. Contracts can contain personal information, such as the names of the people who sign them. A demo or pilot using real documents will be covered by a separate written agreement.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the providers who help us run Fair Terms, or where the law requires it:

Overseas disclosure

These providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then delete or de-identify it.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by writing to hello@fairterms.com.au. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last changed.
